What is a Dormant Account?

A dormant account is characterized as one in which there has been no customer-initiated activity, such as debit or credit transactions, digital channel logins, etc., for a continuous period of 12 months (one year).

What happens when an Account becomes ‘Dormant’?

You will not be able to withdraw any funds from your account. However, funds can be deposited / credited into the account. Charges for any subscribed services, government duties / levies or any mandate(s) issued under the relevant law or court shall not be subject to the debit restriction and may be deducted from the account.

How to keep your account ‘Active’?

Any of the following activities may be performed to keep the account active and avoid dormancy:

  • Login via Internet Banking or Mobile Banking.
    OR
  • Deposit or withdraw any amount from your account. The transaction can be performed from any one of the channels such as any Branch, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, or ATM.

How to re-activate your account, if marked Dormant?

You can re-activate your dormant account from any Meezan Bank branch through an in-person visit, email, or postal services.

  • Activate Dormant Accounts from any Meezan Branch (Salaried & Self-Employed)
    • Visit any Meezan branch to activate your Dormant Account.
    • Fill the Dormant Activation Request form and submit it to the branch. Self-employed individuals must submit this request on their business letterhead.
    • Provide biometrics and valid identity document (original or copy of CNIC, etc.) for verification.
    • Once your account is activated, collect your Account Statement (from dormancy date till activation date) from the branch.
  • Activate Dormant Accounts from any Meezan Branch (Corporate Entities)
    • Complete and submit the Dormant Activation Request form on your Company’s letterhead, signed by authorized signatories. For partnerships, all partners must sign this letterhead.
    • Authorized signatories shall perform biometric verification. For changes in signatories, please submit a new Board Resolution along with account activation request.
    • Once your account is activated, collect your Account Statement (from dormancy date till activation date) from the branch.
  • Activate Dormant Accounts via Email
    • Contact your branch or any Meezan branch and request Dormant Activation Request form.
      Note: RDA customers (outside Pakistan) shall contact their Relationship Manager.
    • Email duly filled Dormant Activation Request form along with scanned copy of valid identity document (CNIC, etc.) to the branch via registered email.
    • Once your account is activated, your Account Statement (from dormancy date till activation date) will be emailed to you on your registered email address.
  • Activate Dormant Accounts via Call Center
    • Contact Meezan Bank Call Center at 021-111-331-331 or 021-111-331-332 via your registered number.
    • Provide all the required details to the call center agent. This activation channel is only applicable for individuals account holders.
    • Once your account is activated, collect your Account Statement (from dormancy date till activation date) from the branch.
    • In case of any change in your details (such as occupation, address, etc.) you shall be directed to visit any Meezan branch for activation of your dormant account.
  • Activate Dormant Accounts via Surface Mail
    • Contact your branch or any Meezan branch and request Dormant Activation Request form.
    • Dispatch duly filled Dormant Activation Request form along with scanned copy of valid identity document (CNIC, etc.) to the branch via registered mailing address.
    • Once your account is activated, your Account Statement (from dormancy date till activation date) will be dispatched to you on your registered mailing address.
  • Activate Dormant Accounts (Non-Resident Individuals)
    • Contact your respective branch and request Dormant Activation Request form.
    • Email duly filled Dormant Activation Request form along with scanned copy of original identity document (CNIC, NICOP, etc.) to the branch via registered email.
      In case you do not have a registered email address, ensure that the email address field is updated on the Dormant Activation Request.
      Dispatch duly filled Dormant Activation Request along with scanned copy of original identity document (CNIC, NICOP, etc.) to the respective branch’s mailing address, after attesting the same from Pakistan Mission Abroad (i.e., Embassy, Consulate, etc.)
    • Once your account is activated, your Account Statement (from the date of dormancy till the date of activation) will be emailed to you on your registered email address.
