Meezan Bank’s Shariah Supervisory Board holds meeting with the Bank’s Board of Directors

Meezan Bank’s Shariah Supervisory Board (SSB) met the Bank’s Board of Directors and updated them on the Bank’s product development, training and public awareness initiatives from a Shariah-perspective. The Bank’s SSB holds periodic meetings with its Board of Directors to ensure that the Board stays updated on Shariah related matters of the Bank.

This meeting was attended by SSB members – Dr. Muhammad Imran Ashraf Usmani and Sheikh Esam Mohamed Ishaq. Chairman of the SSB, Justice (Retd.) Muhammad Taqi Usmani also participated in the meeting over video conference.

Appreciating Meezan Bank’s commitment towards Shariah-compliance as well as its business success, Sheikh Esam Mohamed Ishaq said that Meezan Bank is a role model for other Islamic banks in the world.

Justice (Retd.) Muhammad Taqi Usmani appreciated Meezan Bank’s commitment towards complete Shariah-compliance in all its operations. He said that Meezan Bank is not just a successful commercial bank but also a major player in the mission of eradication of Riba from the country. He acknowledged the efforts of the Bank and appreciated the strong commitment of the Board of Directors towards the cause of Islamic Banking.
