Meezan Bank receives multiple awards at Islamic Finance Forum of South Asia – SriLanka

Meezan Bank has been recognized as the Gold Award winner for ‘Islamic Bank of the Year – Pakistan’ at the Islamic Finance Forum of South Asian (IFFSA) Awards 2016, held in Colombo, Sri Lanka for demonstrating the best overall performance over the period 2013-2015.

In addition to ‘Islamic Bank of the Year’, Meezan Bank has also won the following Gold Awards for:

  • Capital Markets Service Provider of the Year’ in Pakistan for providing a range of tailor made capital market services and solutions to its customers.
  • Islamic Microfinance Company/Project of the Year’ Pakistan for Meezan UPaisa – World’s first Islamic branchless banking service launched in collaboration with Ufone, an Etisalat group company.
  • Advisory Services Provider of the Year’ Pakistan for making the most significant impact in the area of Islamic finance advisory services in the region.

The awards were presented to Mr. Irfan Siddiqui – President & CEO of Meezan Bank at the Inaugural Islamic Finance Forum of South Asia, Colombo. Mr. Irfan Siddiqui was also presented an Honorary Award in recognition of his contributions made to the Islamic finance industry in Pakistan.

Justice (Retd.) Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani was conferred with ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for his services rendered across the globe.

IFFSA Awards were organised by UTO EduConsult (Pvt) Ltd, Sri Lanka. This first of its kind event brought together Islamic Banking & Finance industry players from across the South Asian region who were recognized for their outstanding performances in their respective areas of expertise. Competitive awards to institutions and individuals in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, India and Sri Lanka were complemented by regional awards presented to institutions such as Path Solutions, based in Kuwait.

Meezan Bank has been consistently recognized as the Best Islamic Bank in Pakistan by numerous local and international institutions, which is a testimony of the Bank’s commitment to excellence. These institutions include Islamic Finance News – Malaysia, Global Finance magazine – New York, Asset AAA – Hong Kong, Asiamoney – Hong Kong, The Banker – United Kingdom and CFA Association – Pakistan.
